Spark Plug Replacement

Most new spark plugs have a lifespan of 100,000 miles.  They seemingly last a long time but don't last forever.  If you drive an older car and you're unsure when the spark plugs were last changed, it's probably a good idea to check them out.  Refer to your owner's manual to read up on service intervals and how often you should be changing or checking the spark plugs in your vehicle.  If you've never seen yours or even thought about changing them, we recommend opting to change them sooner than later.

There are many signs indicating that it's time to change your spark plugs, including:

• Engine Hesitation
• Engine Misfire
• Rough Engine Idle
• Reduced Engine Power
• Engine Surging

If you're having difficulty starting your car, it may be because your spark plugs are worn out and need to be replaced.  To check and see for yourself, all you need is a simple socket set and a spark plug ratchet extension.  Refer to your owner's manual to help locate your spark plugs, and if you're curious, you can go ahead and remove each one.  Check to see if the gap is correct and that there are no obvious signs of damage or corrosion.
